The 6-years of wait for Supercars to return to Queensland Raceway was definitely worth it after this weekends racing. Althought the weather wasn't great on day 1 & 2, day 3 provided mostly clear skies and a dry track. From a spectator's point-of-view, the racing was fierce and exciting, providing an amazing weekend of motorsport.

So what did we learn from this weekends Ipswich 440?

  1. The Paperclip - The upgraded qldraceways.com.au provided spectators with excellent viewing, and allowed for some incredible racing. The weekend culminated with an incredible last race with plenty of bumping and rubbing. After 6-years since the last supercar round I can say that QR is back! I cannot wait until next year.

  2. Brock Feeney - @BFeen88 is almost untouchable winninig the 2025 Sprint Cup in the final race of the weekend. He has been dominiant since Tasmania, and it is going to have to take something special from the other drivers to stop him having more success. His weekend would have been perfect if it had not been for a small movement in Race 24, which resulted in a false start. If not for this it would have been a clean sweep. Moving into the endurance races, @BFeen88 leads the championship by 232 points and is looking uncatchable.

  3. Zach Bates - The son of one of Australia rally driver, Rick Bates, Zach showed on his debut that he too has inherited the competitive DNA. Although, he didn't finish Race 25 where he would've like, he showed his ability to be fast by qualifying for the Top 10 Shootout. He beat out many an experienced driver to show his team owner, Craig Lowndes, that he is worth the investment. Zach started the weekend as a wildcard, but after this weekend he will soon be a regular starter.

  4. Cam Waters - Staring the year so well, Cam's consistency is now hurting his chances of winning the Driver's Championship. This weekend was no different, with Cam finishing17th, 5th, & 2nd. His final result was well deserved, but if he wants to cut into @BFeen88's lead Cam is going to need more consistent results in the eduro races.

Supercars heads into the Enduro season with the next race at the "The Bend" in Adelaide from 12-14 Sep. This will see the teams bringing in a second driver, and as we know anything can happen over 500-1000km. BFeen88 is teaming up with Jamie Wincup, which will prove to be a very hard team to beat. I look forward to the next few races and to see who is going to stand up and make a serious challenge to Red Bull Ampol Racing's stanglehold on the @Thrifty Team Championship
